International Adoption

There are many American couples that wish to adopt a child internationally. One of the reasons are the poverty in the other country, which makes the adoption actually a saving act for the child or because prospective adoptive parents wish to have as little connection as possible with the birth parents.

By adopting a child internationally it means that the person becomes the legal and permanent parent of that child. To be able to adopt internationally the prospective parents need to meet the law requirements in their state and then they need to met the requirements of the country from which they wish to adopt.

The laws of different countries vary in their willingness to allow international adoptions. Each country individually has their adoption laws and policies. There are several criteria by which they are choosing the perspective adoptive parents, like age, financial status, educational level, sexual orientation, whether there are other children in the family and health of the prospective parents. It is not only the prospective parents that are limited, but also the children that can be adopted.

There are countries that have well established rules for adoption and this is because the rate of international adoption from those countries is high. This is valid for countries like China, Vietnam or Korea. There are then countries that forbid international adoption like United Arab Emirates, Romania. Lately and mostly starting 2009 more countries are not allowing international adoption and this is because they are being accused of exporting children and because most countries are not able to deal with their own children.

International adoption should be very careful done and the agencies that are facilitate this type of adoption need to be checked to make sure that they are not illegal. Due to international adoption a series of illegal actions took place. There were a lot of cases of children that were stolen from their home in order to be sold in another country, for example to agencies that were then placing them with families with false papers.

Also there were numerous cases were the children were sold by their parents. This usually happens in countries that are poor or corrupted. In order to make sure that the child that you are adopting was not stolen, the first thing to do is to check the agency. Make sure that they are licensed and that they had no other legal problems before. Also if you are suspecting that the agency is placing stolen children from other countries to families under false paper announce as soon as possible the police to report. They will make an investigation to prove your suspicions.

Adoption should be a beautiful thing for those that are unable to have their biological child, but also from this process there were those that found a way of doing money. Even if the prospective adoptive parents are trying to do a good thing they might in fact ruin afamily. Before considering international adoption make sure that a domestic adoption is o way suitable for you.
